Hubert L. Ferguson

Hubert L. Ferguson was born April 30, 1925, in Stuttgart, Arkansas County, Arkansas.

Ferguson enlisted in the United States Army in 1945 and was stationed in Germany during World War II. After returning home to Arkansas, Ferguson attended Arkansas State Teachers College and joined the United States National Guard.

In 1949 Ferguson began working for the Conway Printing Company and the Log Cabin Democrat newspaper in Conway. He remained there until his retirement in 1980, when he moved to Boxley on the Buffalo National River.

Ferguson was one of the founding members of the Ozark Historical Society along with his wife, Mary Virginia. They were instrumental in the effort to designate the Buffalo River as a national river under the National Park Service and prevent damming on the river.

Ferguson passed away on February 4, 2023.
